The coating process of anticorrosive paint

Oct 25, 2022

During specific construction, the coating process regulations and measures to ensure the quality of the anti-corrosion layer should be prepared according to the structure of the anti-corrosion article.
The environmental conditions at the time of application should meet the requirements of the instructions. In case of rain, snow, fog, wind and sand and other climatic conditions, the open-air construction of the anti-corrosion layer should be stopped. When the construction environment temperature is lower than -5 °C or higher than 40 °C, or the relative humidity is higher than 80%, it is not suitable for construction. The uncured anti-corrosion layer should be protected from rain.
If rust occurs between the surface pretreatment and the first primer, the surface pretreatment should be re-treated before coating. For large containers that cannot be sandblasted within one day, they should be sealed to prevent convection with external gas and prolong the rust return time.
Chlorosulfonated polyethylene anticorrosive paint coating can be applied by airless spraying, airless spraying, brushing or rolling coating and other construction methods, in the order of top-to-bottom coating, the coating should be uniform, no leakage, which coating method should be decided according to the anti-corrosion construction plan. The coating operation shall comply with the following regulations:
A. When using the brushing method, the application force is uniform, and the brush is painted in the same direction to avoid surface fluffing.
B. When spraying, the spray gun should move at a uniform speed and keep the nozzle perpendicular to the sprayed surface.
C. When using the roller coating method, the drum dipping material should be uniform, not too much, the force should be uniform when rolling, and should not be too large, and should maintain a uniform speed; The drum should be rolled in the same direction, and the direction can be different for each pass. Corners, accessories and other parts that cannot be coated by the roller should be repainted with a brushing tool.
Welds, corners and uneven surfaces should be dipped in paint or the number of application passes should be increased.
The application interval of each paint should not be more than 24 hours, and the next paint should be applied after the upper paint surface dries. If the previous lacquer has cured, the next lacquer can be applied only after being woolened. After the last topcoat is applied, it should be cured at room temperature 25 °C for more than 7 days before it can be put into use. If the curing temperature is lower than 10 °C, it should be cured for more than 10 days before it can be put into use.
During the construction process, the wet film thickness of the coating should be measured in different parts, and the viscosity of the coating and the coating process parameters should be adjusted in time to ensure that the final thickness of the anti-corrosion layer meets the design requirements.
